Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska
Senior Citizens Program
The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska Title VI Administration on Aging Program, also known as the Nutrition and Caregiver Program, provides services to tribal members aged 55 and over living within the reservation’s boundaries or very near to it. The program includes congregate and home-delivered meals prepared through the Meal Site located on the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska reservation. The congregate meals are served during the noon hour Monday thru Friday at the multi-purpose building that houses the police station and Native American Family Services. HomeÂ-delivered meals are delivered to persons in poorer health. To receive homeÂ-delivered meals, seniors need to be present for congregate meals two times a week unless health ailments interfere. Other services provided include information/referral, outreach, transportation, homemaking, chores, telephoning, and visiting. The caregiver program offers a temporary period of relief or rest for the caregiver of a frail elder. It can be in the form of in-home respite care, adult day care respite, or respite for an overnight stay on an intermittent, occasional, or emergency basis. The caregiver program provides a break for the caregiver to relieve the stress and demand of constant care. We also have a Lending Closet with medical equipment to be used on a loan basis.
